Manzanillo translates literally to “little apple”, and is a variety of olives that originates from Spain. Manzanillo Olives are large, plump, fruity, and crunchy compared to many other kinds of olives. They are one of the varieties that we grow here at our olive grove at Robinvale Estate.
We have been growing olives here at Robinvale Estate for almost 80 years, and we continue to grow some of the finest olives in Australia. The olives are harvested early in the season, which is why they appear green, and are processed right here at the estate. Reducing the time between harvest, curing, and pickling them in brine ensures that their flavour remains fresh and tasty.
The Green Manzanillo Olives can be served on a grazing board or cheese platter, or served along other antipasto foods such as salami and marinated capsicums. They can be used for making pizza or as an ingredient for many Mediterranean recipes. However, if you plan to use these olives in cooking, be sure to remove the pits first.
